What Is Madhyawadi Avkaash?

Madhyawadi Avkaash is the Hindi term for a mid-session vacation in the school academic calendar. In Rajasthan, this break coincides with the Diwali festive period, giving students and teachers an opportunity to pause their regular academic routine and spend time with family.

The break is not only an opportunity to celebrate Diwali but also a chance for children to rest, explore their interests, participate in family traditions and return to school refreshed.

Diwali Break 2026: Are the Dates Different From Last Year?

In 2025, the Diwali holiday dates for Rajasthan government schools were revised from the earlier scheduled period of 16–27 October to 13–24 October. The change was announced before the holidays began.

For the 2026–27 academic session, the scheduled Madhyawadi Avkaash is 4–15 November 2026. Parents should refer to the applicable school holiday calendar and any official updates for confirmation of the dates.

How Can Students Make the Most of the Diwali Holidays?

A school break can be both enjoyable and meaningful. Here are a few ways children can make the most of their Diwali vacation.

  1. Celebrate Family Traditions: Encourage children to participate in age-appropriate activities such as decorating the home, making rangoli, arranging diyas and learning about the stories and traditions associated with Diwali.

  2. Enjoy Creative Activities: Children can make greeting cards, paper lanterns, festive decorations or simple craft projects. Such activities help develop creativity, patience and fine motor skills.

  3. Make Time for Reading: A little reading during the holidays can help children maintain their reading habits. Storybooks, age-appropriate books about Indian festivals and enjoyable reading activities are good options.

  4. Balance Screen Time With Play: Encourage children to spend time outdoors where safe, play board games, pursue hobbies and enjoy meaningful conversations with family members.

  5. Celebrate Responsibly: Diwali is an opportunity to teach children about kindness, sharing and responsibility. Families can choose eco-friendly decorations, avoid excessive noise and follow local firework safety guidance.

When Will Schools Reopen After Diwali Break in Rajasthan?

The scheduled Diwali break ends on Sunday, 15 November 2026. Therefore, schools are scheduled to reopen on Monday, 16 November 2026, and regular academic activities are expected to resume.
